How a Story Becomes a Brand: The Origin of Strategy House
Over two years ago, Katie Felten was looking for a position as a passionate community builder and manager. After realizing a move to an international company wasn’t the right fit, she wanted to connect with a socially-conscious organization in San Francisco.
She reached out to me for help updating her resume and translating her work building communities online into a role within a traditional company model. I accepted, thinking it would be nice to have a little extra income while I was pursuing a career in publishing and prepping for a move to New York.
Two years and two career shifts later, Katie and I have spent hours developing four core products to help B2B businesses connect with their ideal customers online.
What we discovered is that neither of us was seeking a traditional role; we enjoyed the flexibility of working with a number of clients. We loved the challenge of learning and immersing ourselves in new industries.
Creating personas based on our clients’ customers and developing content strategies customized for their business allows us to engage with a diverse group of people. The actionable plans we create empower the marketing teams we work with, allowing them to take accountability for the success of the strategy.
Making It Official: The Transition from Personal Brands to a Marketing Agency
Both operating under our personal brands and LLC’s, we’ve worked with a number of clients to develop customized marketing strategies. We set a solid foundation by defining their brand voice, identifying ideal customers, and create step-by-step plans to connect with them.
We’ve finessed and refined these processes into our Core4, our proven marketing, social media, and LinkedIn strategies. Our confidence in our process stems from application; we’ve helped our clients successfully connect with their ideal customers by implementing our marketing plans.
Additionally, we’ve used these same Core4 processes to grow our own business, expanding our product offerings and growing beyond the coffee shops the two of us worked from to our small team of six in a Third Ward location.
Thinking Big Picture, but Providing Step-by-Step Marketing Plans
Now, we’ve formally come together as Strategy House, a marketing agency that demystifies social media for small and mid-size businesses. Our easy to implement marketing plans serve as a guide for creating content that resonates with the people you want to work with.
We offer:
- A marketing strategy that defines the big picture, then is distilled into an easy to implement, tactical plan
- All the tools, knowledge, and training needed to implement
- A connection to your ideal audience through content that sounds authentic, human, and resonates with the people you want to work with
